News Update

1. Let us pray for the martyrs in Yemen - MC Sisters and their staff who served the poor of the Lord. Let us also pray for Rev. Fr. Tom SDB who has not been traced so far. CMI family joins MC Sisters and SDB Fathers in their sorrow and gets inspired to take up mission in tough lands.

2. Indian Embassy, Rome conferred an award on Chavara Institute of Indian and Inter religious studies (CIIS), Rome in recognition of its efforts in spreading Indian culture and its service in Inter-religious activities. The award consisted of a certificate and "ponnada" given by the Ambassador. The Ruby Jubilee of the centre will be celebrated on 25th and 26th March, 2017, with an international seminar on "Mercy and Compassion in World Religions: Relevance & Application in Today's Context". Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Isaac, the director, and all the former directors.

3. Rev. Fr. Prasanth Palackappilly was honoured with an award of the best principal instituted by the retired principal's association. Congratulations.

4. Rev. Fr. Peter Kuzhikandathil is appointed the Dean, Research, Hindustan University, Chennai. Congratulations and Best wishes.

5. Servant of God Rev. Fr. Canisius Quiz was conducted in different rounds and its final session was held on 14th February, 2016. The participants were religious sisters, brothers and seminarians from different congregations Rev. Fr. Prior General distributed the prizes to the winners. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Provincial and Devamatha community for organizing the event very professionally.

6. Rev. Fr. Prior General made the canonical visitation in CSR, Pariyaram, Chavara Bhavan, Kainakary, Chavara Pilgrim Centre, Mannanam and St. Joseph's CMI Ashram, Karikkamuri from 21st to 26th February.

7. Rev. Fr Prior General visited Kolkata Sub region from 2nd to 7th March, 2016. He visited all the centres of the sub region and met with all our members. On 6th March, there was a general gathering of the members in the sub regional house in Behala. Rev. Fr. Prior General appreciated the hospitality and fraternity of the members in the sub region and the great work taken up by them in rural setting in different parts of West Bengal.

8. Dr. Ananda Bose, director, Chavara Chair, attended different conferences in New York and highlighted the contributions of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara is various forums including the UN. He addressed the CMI community in New York and made an interesting speech on the association of his family with St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara.

9. The General Plenary Assembly will be held in CMI Prior General's House, Chavara Hills at 10 am on 4th April to 4 p.m. on 8th April, 2016.

10. The Last and final session of the Renewal program of the congregation will be held from 13th to 15th April, 2016 for all who could not attend the program held in the provinces or formation houses. Rev. Fr. Johny Edapulavan, the General Auditor may be contacted for registration.

11. The first Quinquennial program of the Junior Priests for this year will be held in Chavara Hills from 22nd to 25th May, 2016. The provincials are requested to send the list to Rev. Fr. Paulson.

12. Responding to Pope's invitation to spend 24 Hours with the Lord, Adoration was held in Chavara Hills on 4th March, 2016. All our seminaries and houses organized adoration and provided confession facility. Those who could not make it for that day may organize it on any other day before the Holy Week.

13. Bp. Januarius Endowment Lecture will be held in Poornodaya Bhopal from March 29-30, 2016. This Year the topic of the endowment lecture will be CMI Mission in Sagar.

14. NBCLC, Bangalore conducts a "Retreat-cum-Seminar on Eco-Spirituality" from Wednesday, 11th May, 09.00 am to Tuesday, 17 May, 04.00 pm 2016. Fee: Rs. 4700. Last Date for registration: 30.04.2016. The seats are limited, if anybody interested, kindly you to register your names as early as possible.

15. Prison Ministry India, invites you for a one-year commitment or to be a volunteer in your own community. The commitment for full timers will start from 31.05.2016 and end on 30.04.2017.
