News Updates

1. The newly professed members of CMI congregation came together on 11th April, 2016 in Chavara Hills. 63 newly professed and 7 novice masters were present. One from Kenya could not attend the program. The program began with adoration to the Blessed Sacrament. Rev. Fr. Paulson, the General Formation Coordinator welcomed the gathering and the newly ordained brothers shared their novitiate experience and their dreams about future mission in the congregation. Rev. Sr. Leena Theres gave a talk on the joy of consecrated life, which was well appreciated by the participants. Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the concluding message. On 13th April the brothers made a pilgrimage to Mannanam and Kainakary. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Paulson Thaliyath, General Formation Coordinator for having organized it very well and thanks to the Novice Masters for their support and cooperation in making possible this new initiative.
2. Ecuador was badly hit by series of earthquakes. Thousands of houses were destroyed. Thousands are living at road side and in refugee camps. Let us pray for our missionaries in Ecuador and for the country. Our members are safe and they want to take up very proactive step to help out the people affected by the earthquake. Let us be united in prayer and support them.
3. Rev. Fr. Augustine Keemattam is recovering well after his surgery in Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi. He had suffered three fractures - one on his hip, another just above his right knee and the third on the elbow of his right hand. He may be discharged from the hospital in two or three days. Let us continue to pray for him.
4. The sick and differently abled people from Sevanagiri visited Chavara Hills and had dinner with us. They were brought here by the efforts of Rev.. Fr Sinto Thottian, Rev. Fr. George Thottan and Rev. Fr. Binu Kuttikadan. Rev. Fr. Johnson Panthalanickal, Director, Chavara Bhavan Kainakary brought the inmates from the home for the aged to Chavara Hills and they spent a day along with our community.
5. The convocation ceremony of one year Certificate Course in Counselling and Personality Development by Santhwana led by Rev. Dr. Varghese Pudussery was held on 17th April, 2016 in Santhwana Institute, Kochi. Rev. Fr. Prior General presided over the function and Shri M.G. Rajamanickam IAS, District Collector was the chief guest. The participants shared their joy and happiness over the transformation they had out of the program. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Varghese Pudussery, the Director.
6. CEVA is organizing 80 summer camps in different parts of Kerala under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Jince Padinjareyil. Congratulations.
7. Residential camp for HIV positive children was organized by Chavara Inspire Movement led by Rev. Fr. Roby Kannanchirayil. Congratulations. 116 children along with the staff made a visit to Chavara Hills. They presented their cultural programmes and had dinner in Chavara Hills. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Roby.
8. The preparatory course for the perpetual vows will commence on 1st May, 2016 in CSR Pariyaram.
9. The orientation course for the philosophy first year CMI philosophy students will commence on 3rd May, 2016 in Dharmaram College, Bangalore.
10. The meeting of Aspirants' Rectors and Vocation Promoters will be held in Chavara Hills from 8th to 11th May, 2016.
11. The Quinquennial program of the Junior Priests will be held in Chavara Hills from 22nd to 25th May, 2016.
12. A joint meeting of the Major Superiors and General Formation Council will be held at Poornodaya - Samanvaya, Bhopal, from September 01, 09.00 am to September 02, 04.00 pm, 2016. Major Superiors' meeting will be held on 3rd and 4th September, 2016.

. Rev. Fr. Peter Pulivelil CMI (71), (St Joseph's Province, Trivandrum), slept in the Lord on19.04.2016.
. Rev. Fr. John Karippai CMI (75) of Devamatha Province, Thrissur, slept in the Lord on 20.04.2016.
. Mrs. Annakkutty Abraham (79), the elder sister of Fr. Varghese Manickanamparambil CMI (Sacred Heart Province, Kochi), slept in the Lord on 24.04.2016.
