News Updates

1. On CMI Foundation Day, May 11, Rev. Fr. Prior General and General Council members offered Thanksgiving Mass at 6.30 a.m. in Chavara Pilgrim Center, St. Joseph's Monastery, Mannanam.
2. The preparatory course for the perpetual vows began on 1st May, 2016 in CSR Pariyaram. 48 scholastics are attending the course guided by Rev. Fr. Anto Vattakuzhy. Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the inaugural message on the opening day.
3. The orientation course for the philosophy first year CMI philosophy students began on 5th May, 2016 in Dharmaram College, Bangalore.
All the scholastics reached Dharmaram on 3rd May, 2016. Rev. Fr. Anto Amarnath, the master of 1st Year Philosophy students, is coordinating the program.
4. The In Service Training Porgram for CMI Aspirants' Rectors and Vocation Promoters was held in Chavara Hills from 8th to 11th May, 2016. Rev. Fr. Paulson Thaliyath, General Formation Coordinator welcomed the participants and Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the inaugural message. Rev. Fr. Tom Tharayil gave the orientation program on the topic "Equipping to be a Formator- Issues and Solutions". Rev. Fr. Abraham Puthukulangara made a presentation on Accompaniment during CMI Aspirancy. Both the sessions were highly appreciated by the Rectors. It was followed by sharing of experiences and discussion on relevant issues. Vocation promoters and provincial Formation coordinators joined the program on 10th May evening. Rev. Sr. Leena Therese CHF enlightened them on Role of Family in Maintaining Joy of Consecrated Life. The vocation promotes and provincial formation coordinators shared their experiences and challenges. Rev. Vicar General appreciated the program with his comments and observations. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Paulson Thaliyath for organizing the event.
5. Rev. Fr. Joy Vattoly, Director of KESS, has organized a unique dream building program for the children from cancer affected families, the workers and from other less privileged children. It is a 7 day program in Bangalore. The students will be exposed to higher academic institutions like IIM Bangalore and Christ University and other corporate entities in Bangalore and they will interact with the leaders of those centres. The residential program is held in and supported by Christ Academy, Bangalore. Congratulations to the new initiative and it is a great model to enhance the horizon of the poor students without much exposure to different contexts of life.
6. The staff of Prior General's House, Chavara Hills, had a unique picnic by flight from Kochi to Bangalore on 26th April, 2016. Most of them had their first flight experience and they enjoyed the hospitality in Dharmaram. On way back, they had a train journey experience. They treasure the dream journey in their hearts with so much of joy and gratitude.
7. Chavara Institute of Indian and Interreligious Studies (CIIS) organized Chavara Lectures on "Spiritual Vision of an Indian & Eastern Mystic" on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Rev. Prof. Paul Kalluveettil CMI delivered 4 lectures: God, the Formator of the Metaphorical World, Christ, the Metaphor and the "Metaphorer", Metaphorical Vision in the Indian Religion, Chavara, One who Dwelt in the Metaphorical World Lecture and Jesus as Appan and the Lord as Mother.
8. 102nd Birthday celebration of Servant of God Fr. Canisius Thekkekkara CMI will be held at Caniusm, Anandapuram at 2 p.m. (prayer) and at LF Church Anandapuram (Holy Mass) at 4 p.m. on 12th May, 2016.
9. The Quinquennial program of the Junior Priests will be held in Chavara Hills from 06.00 pm of 22nd to 01.00 pm of 25th May, 2016.
10. Rev. Fr. Prior Genera will leave for Rome on 24th May, 2016 to attend the Superior Generals' Meeting to be held from 25th to 27th May, 2016 at the Salesianum, Rome. It will be followed by the canonical visitation of our members in Rome.
11. A joint meeting of the Major Superiors and General Formation Council will be held at Poornodaya - Samanavaya, Bhopal, from September 01, 09.00 am to September 02, 04.00 pm, 2016. Major Superiors' meeting will be held on 3rd and 4th September, 2016.

. Rev. Fr. Swami Sadanand (Purattukara Michael S.) (68), of St. Paul's Province, Bhopal, slept in the Lord on 25.04.2016.
. MR. P. L. Davasy (94), beloved brother of Rev. Fr. John Fisher Painadath (St. Xavier's Province, Rajkot), was called to his eternal rest on 30.04.16.
. Mrs. Thresiamma (83), beloved mother of Fr. Salus Vattoth CMI (St. Xaviers Province, RAJ), was called to Eternal Rest on 03.05.2016.
. Mrs. Eliamma Varkey (97), beloved mother of Rev. Fr Jacob Meenappally CMI (St. Joseph's Province, TVM), slept in the Lord on 06.05.2016.
. Mr. Kunjipalu Kizhakumthala (100), the beloved father of Rev Fr. Francis Kizhakumthala CMI (Preshitha Province, COI), slept in the Lord on 08.05.2016.
. Mr. George Thottumkal beloved brother of Rev. Fr. Mathew Thottumkal CMI (St. Joseph's Province, KTM) slept in the Lord on 09.05.2016.
. Mr. Jose (64) beloved younger brother of Fr. James Chalil CMI (S.H. Province, Kochi) slept in the Lord on 04.05.2016 in Australia).
