News Update
1. After the preparatory course and annual retreat, 47 scholastics made their final profession on 21st and 22nd May, 2016 in their respective provinces. CMI family congratulates all of them and prays for their committed life for a life time.
2. In the summer holidays of 2016, CEVA organized 61 Summer Camps in all the 14 districts of Kerala with the support and guidance of a qualified team including Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Members, Child Line Activists, Personnel from Excise, Cyber Crime Dept, Doctors and Advocates. These camps were successfully conducted by networking with 31 NGOs across Kerala. The camps were designed to give children from all strata of the society especially from the poor and marginalized, an all round experience. Around 3000 children participated in the camps from all over Kerala. Best Campers were selected from 61 camps on the basis of their performance and initiatives. They were taken to the CMI School at Vattavada, a remote village 40 kilometers away from Munnar, Idukki, for personality training cum nature camp for 4 days. Hearty congratulations to Rev. Fr. 3. Kuriakose Elias Chavara Chair, MG University will organize a seminar on Contributions of St. Kurikose Elias Chavara for Social Revolution at Chavara Cultural Centre, Kochi, on 26th May, 2016. Dr. C.V. Anandhabose IAS will preside over the function and Dr. Babu Sebastian, the Vice Chancellor of MG University, will inaugurate the function and Prof. M. K. Sanu will be the guest of honour.
4. Congratulations to all CMI schools and the management and staff for the good results in Class 10 and 12 Examinations. CMI schools made their presence visible by 100% results with maximum number of A+.
5. The orientation course for the Philosophy first year CMI students was organized from 5th to 21st May, 2016. The program consisted of English language, personality development program, and spiritual orientation sessions in order to make a smooth transition from the novitiate to the philosophy study. Thanks to Rev. Fr. Rector, Dharmaram College and Rev. Fr. Anto Amarnath, the master of 1st Year Philosophy students for organizing the program effectively. 25 scholastics left for Darsana Wardha to continue their studies over there accompanied by Rev. Fr. Wilson Edattukaran, the dean of studies. 43 will continue their studies in Dharmaram.
6. Rev. Fr. Prior General met with the Formation Team in Dharmaram and had discussion on the instructions from Rome on Priestly Formation and Spiritual Direction. Decision was taken to implement the instructions from the Oriental Congregation in the right spirit identifying more qualified personnel for spiritual direction and ensuring the availability of the formation personnel for guiding the scholastics.
7. 170th death anniversary of Malpan Thomas Porukara was celebrated in Champakulam Parish on 21st May, 2016. Rev. Fr. Prior General was the main celebrant for the Holy Mass. Mar Joseph Powathil gave the sermon. A book titled Crossroad of Calendar on the life and message of Father Thomas Porukara written by M Gopinath was released at the function. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Provincial and team of St. Joseph's Province, Thiruvanthapuram and Champakulam monastery and parish.
8. 102nd Birthday celebration of Servant of God Fr. Canisius Thekkekkara CMI was held at Canisiusm, Anandapuram on 12th May, 2016. Mar Pauly Kannookdan presided over the prayer meeting. It was followed by Holy Mass in LF Church Anandapuram led by Mar Joseph Pastor Neelankavil. Rev. Fr Jose Cletus Plackal gave the homily. A good number of people attended the prayer and the Holy Mass.
9. The 150th anniversary celebration of the blessing of the monastery church in Elthruruth was held on 22nd May, 2016. Rev. Fr. Prior General was the main celebrant for the concelebrated holy Eucharist.
10. The Quinquennial program of the Junior Priests will be held at Chavara Hills from 22nd to 25th May, 2016.
11. Rev. Fr. Prior General will leave for Rome on 24th May, 2016 to attend the Superior Generals' Meeting to be held from 25th to 27th May, 2016 at the Salesianum, Rome. It will be followed by the canonical visitation of our members in Rome. He will attend the zonal gatherings of our members in the USA and Canada in view of evolving an administrative set up for CMIs in North America.
12. A Conference of all CMI members engaged in Educational Mission will be held in Christ University Campus, Kengery from 15th to 17th September, 2016. Eminent educationists and practioners will share their educational philosophy and practices.
13. A meeting of all members residing in houses directly under the Generalate except common study houses will be held on 3rd evening till 5th morning of August, 2016 at Chavara Hills, Kakkanad. This is to mutually enrich the members and evaluate the implementation of GS 37 in the respective communities.
14. Rev. Fr. Thomas Parayil CMI (St. Paul's Province, Mysore), has successfully completed his doctoral Dissertation on 06.05.2016 at Christ University. The title of the dissertation is: Development and Standardization of a Tool to Assess Spirituality in Families for Family Based Intervention. Hearty Congratulations.
15. Congratulations to Christ University Team: The India Today Survey is out, our university is placed First in BBA, BCA in All India, Third in Arts, Science and Commerce, College of Law Breaks into Top 10, Hotel Management is placed 4th and Department of Media Studies gets 2nd.

. Mr. Devasia (97) beloved father of Fr. Mathew Valarkot CMI (Chavara Vice Province, Bhavnagar) slept in the Lord on 13.05.2016.
. Mrs. Anna Malekandathil (93), the elder sister of Bro. Joseph Vadakekannanchira CMI (Nirmal Province, Jagdalpur), was called to eternal reward on 12.05.2016.
