News Updates

1. The blessing of the CMI House in Boston will be held on 28th September by His Excellency Most Rev. Mark O'Connell, J.C.C.D, auxiliary bishop of Boston. Let us wish God's blessings on Rev. Fr. Jilson George and Rev. Fr. Janesh Moolayil, the pioneers in the new house. This house will facilitate our mission in St. Therese Chapel in the Mall and the administration of Carmelite Religious Gift Shop more effective. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Davy Kavungal, the coordinator General for North America for his timely initiative and efforts.
2. Rev. Fr. Prior General and the General Auditor met with His Excellency Archbishop Salvatore Pennachio, Apostolic Nuncio, on 23rd September, 2016 in the Nunciature in New Delhi and expressed the gratitude of the CMI family for his support to our congregation.
3. Congratulations to Devagiri College, Kozhikode and Christ College, Irinjalakuda for getting A++ and A Grades respectively in the NAAC Reaccreditation. Devagiri College is the only college in India now with A++ grade.
4. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Biju Kunnumpuram and Rev. Fr. Sunil George who defended their PhD Thesis. CMI family is proud of our new doctors and thanks the Lord.
5. The canonical visitation of the Prior General in Nirmal Province Jagadalpur was held from 7th to 8th September, 2016. The general gathering with the members of the province was held on 8th September and all the superiors gave a briefing of the life in each house and Prior General and General auditor gave their feedback based on the visitation.
6. 104 new novices commenced their novitiate life on 8th September, 2016 in India and Kenya. Rev. Fr. Prior General was the main celebrant for the novitiate entrance in Banpuri, Jagadalpur where 33 postulants entered the novitiate.
7. The canonical visitation of Bhopal Province was held from 10th to 12th September, 2016. Rev. Fr. Prior General met with the Provincial Council and local superiors in Bishop Clemens Bhavan, Bamori.
8. The canonical visitation in Samanvaya Bhopal was held from 12th to 14th September, 2016 and Samanvaya - Rishikesh from 18th to 20th September, 2016.
9. The third Quinquennial - Junior Priests Program was held from 10th to 13th September in Poornodaya, Bhopal. Rev. Fr. Vicar General inaugurated and gave the orientation talk. Rev. Fr. Benny Thettayil and Rev. Fr. Paulson Muthupeedika addressed the gathering. It was followed by sharing by the young priests. Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the concluding message. Thanks to Rev. Fr. Vicar General and Rev. Fr. Paulson Thaliyath, the General Formation Coordinator and Poornodaya community for organizing the event effectively.
10. Regents Meet was held from 16th to 19th September, 2016 in Poornodaya, Bhopal. Almost all the regents attended the program except those who are in African Mission. 46 regents came together under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Vicar General and Rev. Fr. Paulson Thaliyath, the General Formation Coordinator. Thanks to Poornodaya community for the effective arrangements.
11. The last Quinquennial - Junior Priests Program of the year will be held from 20th to 23rd October in Poornodaya, Bhopal.
12. Rev. Fr. Prior General visited most of the mission centres in Bijnor Province and Nepal Mission along with the General Auditor. He inaugurated the Day Boarding and Educational Project for the poor children in Nepal. Congratulations to Rev. Provincial, Rev. Fr. Jogi and Pauly for the new initiative. It was followed by the visitation in Bijnor Province. On 22nd September, there was a general gathering of the members of the province and the Prior General and the General Auditor appreciated the great work done in the mission and gave the feedback based on the visitation.
13. CMI Educational Summit scheduled from 15th to 17th September, 2016 was not held because of the problems related to Cauvery issue in Bangalore. The new schedule is being worked out.
14. NVSC Pune organizes 3 weeks course in Training for Skills in counselling from 23rd October to 12th November, 2016 for priests and the religious who are involved in formation and education. 15. Ishavani Kendra, Pune organizes the following courses:
(1) NEW CHALLENGES IN FORMATION FOR MISSION from October 10-29, 2016 for all Formation Personnel at different stages of Formation.
(2) INTENSIVE COURSE ON PERSONAL GROWTH AND TRANSFORMATION FOR MISSION from 9th January to 4th March, 2017 for priests, brothers and sisters, seeking time and updating after at least 5 - 10 years of active ministry.

16. Let us remember our Departed souls
. Mrs. Rosa (86), beloved mother of Rev Fr Joy Peenickaparambil CMI (Devamatha Province, Thrissur), Slept in the Lord on 09.09.2016.
. Mrs Sherly Thankachen (56), Palakkattu House, sister of Rev Fr Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI (St. Joseph's Province, TVM), slept in the Lord on 15.09.2016.
. Rev. Fr. Ivans Varakukalayil slept in the Lord on 19.09.2016, in the USA. Fr. Ivans was a priest in the CMI Congregation, St. Thomas Province, Kozhikode, and was a lecturer in English, at Devagiri College. He was the Principal of Devagiri College from 05 May 1974 to July 14 1976. Later Fr. Ivans joined the O.Carm Congregation in the USA and was a member of Carmelite Monastery, Munster, Indiana State, USA.
