1. The second anniversary of the canonization of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, our beloved founder, will be held at Chavara Pilgrim Centre, Mannanam. At 11 a.m., on 23rd November, 2016, Rev. Fr. Prior General will celebrate the thanksgiving Holy Eucharist. His Grace Joshua Mar Ignathios, Bishop of Mavelikara Diocese, will give the message of the day. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and rosary procession will be held in the afternoon. Let us give thanks to the Lord for His great gift of St. Kuriakose Elias of Holy Family and continue his saintly legacy.
2. The Annual General Meeting of the Council of the Ecumenical Christian Centre, Bangalore has appointed Rev. Dr. Mathew Chandrankunnel CMI as the Director of ECC for a period of three years with effect from 16th December, 2016. He was installed as the Director of ECC by the Chairman of ECC, His Grace Metropolitan Issac Mar Philexinos of the Marthoma Church. Let us congratulate and offer our prayerful wishes to Rev. Fr Mathew Chandrankunnel for the new assignment.
3. Rev. Fr. Roby Kannanchirayil and Rev. Fr. Roy Kannanchirayil present "Oru Nalla Appante Chavarul" in Salom TV from 22nd November on every Tuesday at 9.00 p.m. (also at 8.30 a.m. on Thursday and 11.30 a.m. on Saturday). Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Roby and Roy for the great initiative.
4. The first profession and the renewal of vows of the temporary professed shall be held on 8th December, 2016. The provincials, rectors and other superiors shall make sure that temporary vows are renewed, and preceded by at least three full days of spiritual exercises (CMI Constitutions No. 112 a).
5. After the earthquake in Nepal, CMI congregation under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Vicar General took up the challenge to reach out to the poor over there. Through the collective efforts and contributions of our houses and institutions, we could construct a school building on a remote hillock, about 60 Kilometers away from Naryayangarh. The school building was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Varghese Vithayathil, Vicar General, on November 16, 2016. Thanks to Rev. Fr. Joji Velikkakath CMI, coordinator in Nepal, for his efforts to realize the project. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Joji and all who have supported this project through their prayer and financial contributions.
6. The preordination course of the deacons was held from 1st to 19th November at CSR Pariyaram. The program was well organized by Rev. Fr. Joy Kakkanat, the Master of the deacons. CSR community expressed great appreciation for the active participation of the deacons with a positive mindset. On 19th November, Rev. Fr. Saju Chackalackal CMI, General Councillor for Evangelization and Pastoral Ministry gave the concluding message. Let us continue to pray for the 58 deacons who will be ordained in December and January.
7. The solemn feast of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara and the conclusion of the Year of Mercy were held on 20th November, 2016 at St. Anthony - St. Alphonsus Church, Brooklyn. Most Rev. James Massa, the Auxiliary bishop of Brooklyn was the main celebrant. Congratulations to Rev. Fr Davy Kavungal, Delegate Superior - USA and Candada and Rev. Fr. Antony Vadakara, parochial vicar.
8. Prior General conducted the canonical visitation in St. Joseph's CMI Ashram - Karikkarmuri, Chavara Bhavan - Kainakary and CSR- Pariyram from 14 to 20th November, 2016.
9. As part of the conclusion of the Year of Mercy, one day adoration was held in Chavara Hills on Friday, 18th November, 2016.
10. Three of the five students who won President's awards in 2016 from Kerala were from Devamatha CMI Public School, Thrissur. World chess champion Nihal Sarin, pianist Milen Manoj Earath (trained by Rev Fr. Thomas Chackalamattath CMI), and artist Anujath Sindhu Vinaylal received the 2016 National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement from President Pranab Mukherjee at a function in New Delhi on Children's Day. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Shaju Edamana, Principal and the entire team of Devamatha CMI Public School, Thrissur.
11. Golden Jubilee celebration of the Religious Profession of Rev. Fr. Thomas Panthaplackal CMI and Rev. Bro. Ouseph Vettickal CMI will be held at 5 p.m. on 27th November, 2016 at Chavara Hills, Kakkanad. Let us come together and pray for our jubiliarians.
12. Harmony Festival was organized at Mar Thoma Pontifical Shrine, Azhikode on 18th, 19th and 20th November, 2016. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Paul Poovathingal for effectively organizing this unique event to bring about harmony among people from all sections of the society.
13. Considering the interests of the junior priests, one more Quinquennial program for the junior priests is organized from 10 am on 10th December to 4 p.m. on 12th December, 2016 at Chavara Hills, Kakkanad. The Provincials shall make sure that all the junior priests who could not attend the Quinquennial program attend the program.
