The Congregation of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) is the first indigenous religious congregation in India.

News Updates

1. Wish every member of CMI family the greetings of the feast of our Lady of Immaculate Conception. Every community shall celebrate the mass and renew their vows on 8th December with a special intention for the welfare of the congregation as it has been our tradition.
2. The 9th December shall be observed as a day of commemoration of our departed brethren. All our priests shall apply their mass of the day for them (D. 61a). Let us be grateful to our departed members for the great sacrifices they made to make what we are today.
3. 73 novices will make their first commitment in the CMI family on 8th December, 2016. Let us pray for our young members so that they will live up to the original charism and legacy of the founding fathers.
4. Christ University has been reassessed by NAAC and accredited with grade A. Congratulations to the Vice Chancellor and the entire team of Christ University for their determination and commendable achievement.
5. Rev. Fr. Davy Kavungal, Delegate Superior of USA and Canada, was appointed the dean of Brooklyn deanery by Bp. Nicholas Dimarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn. Congratulations and prayers to Rev. Fr. Davy Kavungal in the new assignment.
6. Rajagiri Hospital has been accredited by JCI. Rev. Fr. Johnson Vazhappilly, the Executive Director, will receive the coveted quality certificate of international recognition in Chicago.
7. The meeting of the provincials of the North Indian Provinces will be held on 7th December in Mary Matha Provincial House, Bellampalli. Rev. Fr. Vicar General will preside over the meeting to discuss issues connected with novitiate formation and change of novitiate house.
8. Rev. Fr. Saju Chackalackal, the General Councillor for Evangelization and Pastoral Ministry is visiting our missionaries in Namibia, Madagascar and Kenya. He left on 4th December, 2016.
9. Retreat for CMI members was held in CSR Pariyaram from 1st to 7th December, 2016. Rev. Fr. Jomon Kochukaniamparambil MCBS was the retreat preacher. 48 CMIs attended the well preached retreat.
10. The Golden Jubilee of religious profession of Rev. Fr. Thomas Panthaplackal CMI and Rev. Bro. Ouseph Vettickal CMI was celebrated on 27th November, 2016 in Chavara Hills, Kakkanad in a spirit of prayer, thanksgiving and fellowship.
11. In connection with the Year of Mercy, Poornadaya and Samanvaya, Bhopal organized a two day workshop and a day of worship from 18th to 20th November, 2016. Rev. Fr. Saju Chackalackal, the General Councillor for Evangelization and Pastoral Ministry, gave the keynote address and our evangelists of mercy in the North Indian Missions presented the papers.
12. The second anniversary of canonization of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, our beloved founder was held in Chavara Pilgrim Centre, Mannanam, at 11 a.m. on 23rd November, 2016. Rev. Fr. Prior General celebrated the thanksgiving Holy Eucharist. His Grace Joshua Mar Ignathios, Bishop of Mavelikara Diocese, gave the message of the day. Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament and rosary procession were held in connection with the celebration. In Chavara Bhavan, Kainakary, the day was celebrated in a spirit of prayer, and one day retreat. Rev. Fr. Antony Elamthottam, General Councillor, celebrated the thanksgiving Qurbana.
13. The quinquennial program for the junior priests will be held from December 10th to 12th at Chavara Hills, Kakkanad. All the junior priests who have not attended the program this year shall take part in the final enrichment program of the year.

Mrs. Elikutty Joseph Mappilamattel (89) beloved mother of Rev. Fr. Jose Mappilamattel CMI (Carmel Provoince, MUV), slept in the Lord on 26.11.2016.
Mrs. Elama (83) beloved sister of Fr. Panthenus Pookatt CMI (Mar Thomas Province, CHA) slept in the Lord on 27.11.2016.
Beloved mother of Fr. Sebi Edattukaran (St. Paul Province, Bhopal), slept in the Lord on 28.11.2016.
Mr. Varghese T.P. (76), beloved father of Rev. Fr. Antony Thuruthikoduthan CMI, (St. John's Province, Bijnor), was called to eternal rest by the Lord on 28.11.2016.
Mrs. Annakutty (70), sister-in-law of Rev. Fr. Antony Vadakara (CMI Delegation House Brooklyn, USA), left for her eternal reward on 27.11.2016.
Mrs. Annakutty Peedikayil (81), Elder sister of Rev. Fr Devasia Karotemprel CMI (St. Joseph's Province, KTM), slept in the Lord today (29.11.2016).
