1.The feast of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was celebrated at Chavara Pilgrim Centre, Kainakary. On 2 February, 2018 General Councillor, Fr. Saju Chackalackal hoisted the flag and celebrated solemn divine liturgy and on the feast day, 11 February, 2018 Mar Antony Kariyil CMI was the main celebrant for the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Antony Elamthottam, General Councillor, led the procession. Around 5000 people attended the feast celebrations and festal agape. Congratulations to Fr. Thomas Kallukulam and team for the leadership in organizing the feast.

2.150th Anniversary of Chavaraul was jointly celebrated by CMI and CMC congregations on February 13, 2018 at Town Hall, Ernakulam. Prof. M.K. Sanu, inaugurated the program. Dr. C. V. Anandabose IAS (Rtd), Smt. Lida Jacob IAS (Rtd) and Mr. Sajay K.V. spoke on Chavarul in today’s family context. The message of Chavarul was presented through cultural programmes like Dance, One Act Play and music. Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Saju Chackalackal, the coordinator and team for effectively organizing the event.

3.The preparatory program for the resource persons of CMI Renewal Program was held from 14th February to 18th February 2018 in CMI Prior General’s House, Chavara Hills, Kakkanad. The program was attended by 50 members along with General Council team.

4.A Mini Mission Council along with an orientation-cum-workshop on the theme “Contemplation and Proclamation” was arranged by the General Department of Evangelization and Pastoral Ministry at the Matthias Institute of Missiology in Schillong, under the auspices of the Salesian Fathers. Together with Fr. Prior General and the Provincial Councillors for Evangelization and Pastoral Ministry, in all eighteen CMI Fathers attended this meeting together with the General Departmental Council. The programme was animated by Rev. Fr. P. V. Joseph (Puthenpurackal) SDB, the Director of the Institute, along with the support of other staff members from Sacred Heart Theological College and Salesian missionaries in the North-East during 21-24 February 2018. The program consisted of orientation talks, experience sharing, mission visits, and discussions with veteran missionaries to facilitate evolving an action plan for the CMI mission department. Congratulations to Fr. Saju Chackalackal, General Councillor, for the unique initiative. Appreciations are due also to Fr. Jaino Chunayanmackal CMI (Bhavnagar) and Fr. Abish Perumbully CMI (Bhopal), both pursuing their licentiate in missiology with the Salesian Fathers, for their strategic support and for having made the local organization for the success of the programme.

5.Rev. Fr. Vicar General attended the meeting convened by Mar Jacob Murickan, the Chairperson of KCBC Commission for Dalit on 26th February 2018. All CMI Provinces in Kerala and Coimbatore Province have generously taken up the challenge to construct 102 houses to Dalit Catholics as part of Chavara Housing Scheme, A House for a House Project. The Bishops, the Rev. Fathers in charge of the project in the dioceses and the representatives of Dalit Christians were all appreciative of the CMI involvement in the project. All expressed satisfaction on the way we disburse money and on the personal interest our Prior General, the General Council members, Provincials and Provincial Councilors take in this noble cause.

6.Gathering of CMIs ordained between 1970 and 1980 was held from 26 February 2018 to 28 February 2018 at Chavara Hills. 70 members attended the program. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Thekkedath welcomed the gathering and Rev. Fr. Prior General gave the inaugural message. Rev. Fr. Paul Thelakkat and Rev. Fr. Augustine Pamplany CST gave inputs. The personal sharing of experiences of the participants was very enriching for the entire community. Thanks to the General Council Team, Rev. Fr. Joshy Cheruparambil, the General Formation Coordinator and Chavara Hills community for organizing the event.

7.Gathering of CMIs ordained between 1960 and 1970 will be held from 9 March 2018 to 11 March 2018 at Chavara Hills.

8.Value Education Meet organized by General Department of Education and Mass Media will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 10, 2018 at Chavara Hills, Kakkanad. This is a planning session of all CMIs interested in working towards effective Value Education in Schools.

9.Gathering of CMIs ordained in 2016 will be held from 6 pm 13th March 2018, to 04.00 pm 15 March 2018, at CMI Prior General’s House, Chavara Hills, Kakkanad.

10.Get together of the newly professed CMIs will be held in Chavara Hills from 7th evening to 10th evening in April 2018.

11.The one month immediate preparatory programme for the perpetual profession of our scholastics will commence in Chavara Hills Kakkanad on 22nd April, 2018.

12.CMI Media Meet to be organized by the General Department of Education and Mass Media will be held on April 30th and May 1st 2018 at Chavara Hills. All the CMIs engaged in media ministry including cultural and dialogue centers shall attend the programme.

13.Higher Education Round Table - A Two-day conference of the CMIs working in the field of Higher Education will be held on August 3rd and 4th 2018 at Chavara Hills, Kakkanad.

14.One Day Seminar for Fresh Teachers in CMI educational institutions on ‘CMI Vision of Education’ at Chavara Hills on August 18, 2018

16.Round Table for CMIs Teaching/Administering in CMI Schools: October 19th-20th, 2018 at Christ University Engineering Campus, Mysore Road, Bangalore.

•Rev. Bro. Charles Malieckal CMI(79) of Devamatha Province, Thrissur slept in the Lord on 21-02-2018 and was buried at St. Theresa’s Monastery Ampazhakkad.

•Rev. Fr. Cyriac Kizhakkedath CMI (84) of Carmel Province, Muvattupuzha slept in the Lord on 22-02-2018 and was buried at Carmel Monastery, Vazhakulam.

•Rev. Fr. Joseph Muttath CMI (82) of St. Joseph’s Province, Thiruvananthapuram, slept in Lord on 26-02-2018 and was buried at Sacred Heart Church, Chethipuzha.

•Mr. V.M. Scaria (78) beloved father of Rev. Fr. Som Vechoor CMI of St. Joseph’s province Kottayam, slept in the Lord on 13-02-2018.

• Mr. Devassykutty Elanjickal, beloved father of Rev. Fr. Davis Elanjickal CMI of St. Paul province, Bhopal slept in the Lord on 17-02-2018.

•Mrs. Achamma Thomas (83) beloved mother of Rev. Fr. Joice Lanithottam CMI of St. Joseph’s province, Kottayam, slept in the Lord on 22-02-2018.

•Mr. E.T. Cyriac, the beloved father of Rev. Fr. Phinil Ezharath CMI of St. John’s Province, Bijnor slept in the Lord on 28-02-2018.
